Why do we need Character Education?
As educators, we have a role and responsibility for the development of the whole child. It is essential that students understand and embrace the comprehensive development of their character. This is only possible if educators model, teach, and develop the character of the students entrusted to them each day. Students should feel safe, respected, and connected to those around them, allowing them to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. In partnership with parents and community members, our goal at Edgerton Local Schools is to shape the character of our students; equipping them with the qualities necessary to perform competently at school and in their communities. Monthly class guidance lessons are done in all grade levels to assist with the growth of each students knowledge of character, and how it can affect their lives, either for the good or the bad.
