Greetings Edgerton community and parents!  The 2022-2023 school year’s first quarter is now in the books, the second quarter of instruction is in full swing, and fall sports are now completed. Congratulations to the coaches, advisors, and athletes on very successful seasons!! As always, each of you represented the Edgerton community and school district with dignity and class. The Fall athletes were comprised of 31 seniors and 17 GMC scholar athletes. I know I don’t need to tell you this parents, but we have great kids at Edgerton!!

I need to especially thank our maintenance and janitorial staff, as well as our technology team for the tremendous effort this summer and fall in preparing the facility for this school year.   Many projects have been completed over the summer which have enhanced an already beautiful facility, that I know the community of Edgerton take great pride in. Here are just a few of the projects completed this summer at ELS:
  1. Central Office renovation is complete with new offices, flooring, LED lighting, HVAC, and drop ceilings.
  2. HOPE Center vision houses 7 Autistic children, teachers, and aides.  What a tremendous opportunity for Edgerton Schools to offer this educational unit to students in need. We’ve had 15 other referrals from other school districts, expressing interest in the facility.
  3. STEAM Lab continues to grow in its equipment provided and classroom teachers using the facility.  We’ve now installed a HAAS CNC Machine in the lab.

We continue to build on our vision of Excellence-Leadership-Service, and our mission of instilling excellence into our students by developing leaders prepared to serve in a global community.  Our “House Initiatives” group our students into four Houses and offer them the opportunity to compete for points.  These points reflect the standards the school district has set as a part of the Leader in Me and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) programming. I am indeed excited for the future of Edgerton Local Schools! I look forward to showcasing the talents of students both academically, athletically, and theatrically.  I’m focused on providing opportunities for students who excel in career tech, art, and music as well.  The list could go on and on, but just imagine the excitement of students who are developing trade skills through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) curriculum.

Edgerton Local Schools is proud to once again host our annual Veterans Day and Grandparents Day events this month, on November 11th and 18th respectively. I’m also very excited for our 4th grade students who have the opportunity to travel to Columbus for the Ohio Statehouse tour on November 22nd. It will be amazing to get our students back to Columbus, since COVID has prevented this trip the last few years.

As always I welcome your input and look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year.  I encourage you stop by my office at any time throughout the year, or call me at your convenience as well, at 419-298-2112.

Sincerely,
Mr. Riehle, Superintendent
